Grambling State Signs 21 Football Standouts On First Day Of National Signing Period

GRAMBLING, La. – Grambling State University head coach Rod Broadway announced today that a total of 21 student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play football for the Tigers next season.
With a focus of recruiting in the state of Louisiana during the offseason, the coaching staff went out and signed 10 recruits from the state. Grambling State continued its presence in the state of Alabama and nabbed six standouts in addition to signing three players Georgia and one each from Texas and Virginia . Several players in the class are also highly decorated as eight of the 21 signees earned all-state honors.
Broadway said additional players will be signed through the duration of the signing period.
Sanford Banks OL 6-5 303 Columbus, Ga. (Carver)
Anchored the offensive line on a team that captured the Class AAA State Championship with a 15-0 record…named to the News3 All-Area High School Football Team…earned a one-star rating by Scout.com.
Chris Bearden OL 6-7 330 Stone Mountain, Ga. (Towers)
Participated in the DeKalb County Coaches Association All-Star Football Game…earned a one-star rating by Scout.com…one of two signees from the state of Georgia
Brendan Crawford QB 6-5 205 El Paso , Texas (Chapin)
All-State performer who transferred into Chapin High School before the start of the 2007 season and made an immediate impact…passed for 2,207 yards and 20 touchdowns…also rushed for 266 yards and nine touchdowns and averaged 40.6 yards per punt with a long of 64 yards.
